Largentière and Southern Ardèche

Walks and visits

Set in the Domaine de l'Eau Vive, 1 hour from the Ardèche gorges, 30 min from Vallon-Pont-D'arc, 40 min from the Chauvet cave and 20 min from Aubenas, you're in the heart of a region renowned for its natural beauty and rich historical heritage. With its 6-hectare park, swimming pool and river, hiking trails including the GR "Tour du Tanargue" on the property and the cycle path just 700 m from the hotel, and all the tourist attractions the region has to offer, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to sharing pleasant moments with family and friends.

Located in the Ligne valley, Largentière invites you on a journey through time to discover its heritage, witness to its prestigious past linked to silver-lead mining.

Along its picturesque medieval streets lined with old houses, you'll discover the Renaissance town hall, the 13th-century Gothic church of Notre-Dame-des-Pommiers, the Récollets gateway, a vestige of the old ramparts, the law courts and the Bishops' castle.

The Southern Ardèche is bursting with exceptional natural sites, ideal playgrounds for nature lovers and lovers of outdoor activities, water sports and hiking: climbing, mountain biking, caving, horse riding, canoeing on the crystal-clear waters of the Ardèche surrounded by its spectacular gorges, hi- king trails with, among others, the GR7...

During your walks, you'll pass through superb villages such as Balazuc, Vogüé and Ruoms, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. A little further afield, less than 50 km from the Domaine de l'Eau Vive, you can explore the prehistoric Grotte Chauvet and the "Grand Site" of Aven d'Orgnac.

When it comes to cultural events, the Ardèche offers a wide variety of exhibitions, festivals and concerts throughout the year.

As for wine lovers, they'll have the chance to visit some wonderful estates, as the Ardèche is home to some delicious grape varieties.
